The Shadow Prowler is the upgrade. A larger, more predatory shadow creature built for encounters where the base Shadow is too minor — a darkness beast that hunts with intent rather than drifting, built for dungeon arcs where the shadows have been organized by something. Use it as the apex creature in a shadow-infested dungeon, the creature that has been directing the regular shadows, or the encounter that tells the party the darkness in this dungeon has leadership.
