The Old One — Host of the Great Waltz
“The music has ended a thousand times. He simply refuses to let the night end with it.”
The Old One is the ancient master of the Crimson Waltz, a vampire lord whose endless existence has hollowed his court into a ritual of beauty, blood, and decay. Every few decades, he awakens the castle for another grand ball, inviting the living to dance among nobles who have long forgotten what it meant to be alive.
The Old One invites the party personally to the Great Waltz, though none remember telling him their names.
Guests who survive until the final dance are promised a single favor, but no one knows what happens when the music stops.
The party discovers the Waltz has repeated for centuries, and the Old One intends this celebration to be its last.
