Reaper
“It read her name in her mother’s voice.”
Beneath a horned skull, the Reaper recites names from a tome bound to Orcus’s will. Its lesser hands tend the pages while enormous scythe limbs harvest those condemned within. It stalks battlefields without haste, stepping over the wounded to find its appointed victims. No plea has ever persuaded it to close the book.
The party discovers a stolen page listing tomorrow’s victims. One name belongs to someone already dead.
A Reaper pursues a deserter who knows how the legion chooses its sacrifices.
A priest can erase names from its tome, but someone must hold the creature at bay.

“You will beg me to spare your children. I will let you hear them beg for you.
Then I will raise you together... You will know their faces. You will feel their bones break beneath your hands.
And when you have torn apart everything you ever loved, I will give you back your mind. Just long enough to understand what your hands have done. Then I will raise them again.”
- Orcus, the Bone Tyrant.
